Whassup?

We are doing so many things this year at NetNomads. The business just grows every day.

When you have 14 high powered machines with allthe trimmings, the possibilities are endless. Here are some ideas of ways that people have found to use the cafe.

You know those ‘memory books’ that are gaining in popularity? The ones where someone sends you a couple of sheets from a scrapbook and asks you to enter your own pictures to be presented to someone in a book? Well, one of our local residents asked us to give them a hand. We scanned in numerous photos and created collages and then printed them directly on the paper with our wonderful Tektronix printer. They were beautiful.

Durand-Hedden house is a real asset to this community, and never more than when they put together a very special Veterans Day presentation honoring those who served in WWII and Korea. We were enormously proud that they chose us to design and print the program.

NetNomads was not exempt from the tragic events of September 11th, as hundreds of our local residents found themselves suddenly without their computers left behind in evacuated buildings throughout downtown manhattan. We were proud and honored that we could make a difficult time a bit easier.

One of our local residents is a member of the French Air Reserves and was called upon, due to recent events, to make a powerpoint presentation for the French Attache. We helped him do that, and made him a fabulous cd label while we were at it. Made him look good and made us proud.

A group of medical students have discovered that NetNomads can be a great place to study. Studying is ALWAYS easier with a good cup of java.

One of our sweetest customers decided she wanted her own poetry on her Christmas cards and NetNomads was more than happy to help her accomplish that. She says they are some of the prettiest cards she’s ever mailed out. Ask us how we can make your holiday easier and more personal.

One of the local realtors figured out a terrific way to avail herself of our talents. We set up a template and when she sells a house, we create a set of ‘change of address’ cards for her to give the new homeowner as a housewarming gift with their own house on the card. That’s such a generous personal touch.

Val Davia found a whole new use for NetNomads. Her singing a cappella group, The Variations, rented out the place on a Friday night, invited family and friends, and used the cafe for a RECORDING STUDIO. They hired someone to record them as they performed 23 fabulous numbers. It was a memorable evening, full of song, good feelings, great coffee and wondrous desserts.

Lydia Johnson Dance, along with the SO Department of Recreation and Cultural Affairs and Arts in the Park had their 3rd Annual “Evening of Contemporary Dance” on Saturday, June 2nd, followed by their 2nd Annual bash at NetNomads. Tickets are available at the Baird Center.

Jim Cole, a resident of Maplewood, has organized a local “Le Tip” chapter that is meeting at NetNomads early on Monday mornings, exchanging business ‘tips’ and hints. This enthusiastic group is still adding members. Give us a call if you have questions or interest. OR, come into NetNomads to see the list of businesses that are currently involved. We are proudly displaying their business literature at the cafe.

The chamber of commerce was here for their annual 'business card exchange' and the cafe was full of the wonderful foods and offerings of our local merchants.  (smiles) nothing was left.

The South-Orange/Maplewood Adult school has published their new site from the cafe. Take a look at http://www.somadultschool.com for the latest in course offerings. You can even print out the registration form right there on the site and mail it in. They're up, they're running, they did it themselves and it didn't cost them an arm and a leg. It's a plan. Talk to us about getting your site on the web.

www.visualworkplace.com hired us to port her site to net objects fusion so she can do the updates herself. She sent us the sweetest email. "Every time I walk into NetNomads I walk out with solutions."  We're honored that she thinks so.

we are probably more proud of this site than any so far. It just so PERFECTLY reflects the business, and the style of the owner. It's a 'guy' site: check out http://www.codrestaurant.com.  He built it here at the cafe, with just a bit of help from us. We love it, he loves it. It's a keeper.

We printed the invitations for Maplewood's newest business, L'Entrepot. They were drop-dead gorgeous, if we do say so ourselves. (grins)

Sometimes we are inspired to things we never imagined by our customers. One biggee for us was a Karaoke party.  Free shareware from the net, an almost  infinite selection of downloadable files, and rip-roaring bose speakers were a hit. It didn’t hurt that the birthday boy’s family took us to great heights in decorating the cafe, either. click here for a peek......

Another wonderful lady inspired us to new heights with a request to train adults in adding creativity to their computer work. We had 22 adults from ATT and it was a grand day of fun and learning.

We are hugely excited about our new Tektronix Printer. You can now print BEAUTIFUL color prints for only 50 cents a page. We’ve been printing flyers and business cards, bar-mitzvah invitations and photographs. It’s cheaper to do your black and white printing at NN for only 10cents a page. Click here to read more about our printing goings-on.

We are doing a lot of individual one-on-one lessons. Take a look at classes for more. We are also having a blast with class in the afternoon for the adolescent set. Click on WebFun for more

One of our favorite NetNomads has published her first website and the rest of her business is beginning to COOK! Take a peek at cookingforhealth.com

We have been doing a lot of printing lately...business cards, flyers, brochures...you name it. Sometimes if we put our heads together we can come up with a beautifully professional product for a lot less than conventional printing methods. Let’s talk about it.

And while we are on the subject of printing...don’t forget bar mitzvah invitations and addressing envelopes.  We can help you make the whole job a LOT easier.

We were very proud to have both the Marshall PTA welcome their new Principal in NetNomads. It’s a gracious place to get to know people.

One of our younger netnomads came in breathlessly.   We had just been showing him some of the music editing software a few days ago. “Mrs. Landress, if i play a song in my head on those keys, and we record it, can we print out the sheet music of what i played?” “Well, yes...you could.” COOL!! “I love writing songs in my head and playing them, but i HATE writing them down.” About a half an hour later we had a printout of about 85 bars of piano music. (smiles...he had it about right....’cool’.)

One gentleman wandered in because his printer is broken and he needed to print out some pages. Then he tried the coffee. Then he found the gelato.  Now he is wondering if he really needs to fix that printer at all.

We have several people building their websites at NetNomads. Need to contract someone else to do it for you? Try our new class on WebDesign.  It may not make you the world’s greatest web designer, but it will make you a far better buyer of webservices.
